RWA Chapter Contests

Ohio Valley Romance Writers’ 2010 Enchanted Words Contest deadline has been extended to November 15! The contest is particularly low on entries in the historical category. Submit your query letter, synopsis and first five pages of your manuscript. Finalists in each category will be judged by an editor and an agent. Judges: Historical – Tina James, Senior Editor Love Inspired, and Laura Bradford, Bradford Literary Agency; Paranormal – Margo Lipschultz, Harlequin and Agent Judge TBA; Contemporary – Jhanteigh Kupihea, NAL, and Lois Winston, Ashley Grayson Literary. OCCRWA’s published author contest, The Book Buyer’s Best, is open for submissions. Preliminary round judges are Readers, Librarians and Bookstore Managers. The contest has new categories this year, welcomes e-books, and the Finalists are read by Sue Grimshaw, book buyer for Borders, who chooses the Top Pick. More info

GDRWA’s Booksellers’ Best Award now has a novella category. Other categories are Traditional / Sweet Romance, Short Contemporary, Long Contemporary, Single Title / Mainstream, Romantic Suspense, Young Adult, Erotic Romance, Short Historical, Long Historical, Paranormal / Time Travel / Futuristic, Inspirational (contemporary or historical). The Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence, sponsored by RWA Southern Magic is open to all published authors of novel-length or novella-length romance fiction. Entries must be received by January 15, 2011.
